Palatalization is widely attested in the world’s languages and varies immensely in its phonological and morphological conditions as well as its phonetic implementation cross-linguistically. This special collection presents a selection of papers, which investigate palatalization patterns in a range of languages from a variety of methodological and theoretic vantage points to shed new light on the phenomenon.
